A Survey of Media Literacy among Students in the Information Society in North Khorasan

The current research is a survey of media literacy status of students in the Information Society in North Khorasan. The theories have been used here are from cultivation, gratifications and knowledge gap to clarify the state of media literacy. This research has been done by survey research method and questionnaire technique was done on 317 students in North Khorasan Universities. The sampling method has been proportional and the spearman correlation coefficient results showed that, there are positive and significant relationships between media usage, cultural capital, parent education and media literacy. The mean differences test showed that, there is no meaningful difference between marriage status, age, family income gender and the dependent variable. But the media literacy means difference significant between departments of education. And based on the current research findings, North Khorasan students possess the average level of media literacy among the youth.
